Lily Welch
american singer songwriter
As a young girl, I was always surrounded by words and melodies. My parents were avid readers and music lovers, and I grew up with an appreciation for both. I would spend hours scribbling stories and poems in my notebook, and when I was old enough, I picked up a violin at school and learned to play. It was a new way to express myself, and I loved the feeling of creating something beautiful.
When I was twelve, my dad taught me how to play the guitar. It was a whole new world of possibilities, and I started writing my own songs. I remember the thrill of performing for the first time, standing in front of a small crowd, with nothing but my guitar and my voice. It was scary, but it was also exhilarating. From that moment on, I knew that I wanted to make music my life
Music became a way for me to process my emotions and connect with others. It has been a constant in my life, even when everything else was changing.
At the end of the day, I just want to keep making music. I want to create and share music that moves people, just like it has moved me.
